Transformation of Irvine Harbour gets planning approval
Reiach and Hall’s £60 million plan to create a stunning waterfront for Irvine has won planning approval from North Ayrshire Council.
Working with Irvine Bay Regeneration Company and developers Urban Splash, the innovative development regenerates the 12 acre site at Irvine Harbour to create a mixed-use scheme of 360 new homes, 30,000 sq ft of cafes, restaurants, shops, offices and a hotel.
As the plans are for a site owned by the Council, they also required the endorsement of the Scottish Government.
Omar Elmi, Commercial Director at Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: “The transformation of Irvine Harbour and the creation of a vibrant place with stunning views and a wonderful location is a key part of our plans for the area. Our remit is to work with our partners to create successful, sustainable communities and we believe this proposal will go some way to doing that.”
Patrick Sheridan of Urban Splash said: “The development will create a fantastic place for people to live, and also as a place for people to enjoy leisure time, to work, and to visit".
Lyle Chrystie, Director of Reiach and Hall Architects, added that: “We have been working together with Urban Splash and Irvine Bay for two years, developing the design and we are delighted that such an innovative proposal won unanimous backing from the councillors. We look forward to developing the designs in the next stage of the project and are excited by the potential to make a really special community where people will choose to live, work and play.”
