Design & Health International Academy Awards 2010

Glasgow's New Stobhill Hospital voted best in world

It has just been announced that our New Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow has been selected as the best hospital of its size in the world.

The award is for best ‘International Health Project under 40,000 sqm’ and was judged by industry and academic professionals for the 2010 Design & Health International Academy Awards.

Marc Sansom, director of the International Academy for Design & Health commented: “This is an exciting moment for New Stobhill Hospital and its project team. The new development has demonstrated that it is not only setting standards for design excellence in the UK but right across the globe, beating off strong competition from North and South America, Australasia, the Middle East and the rest of Europe.”

The previous winner of this award was the Meyer Children’s Hospital of Florence. This global recognition follows New Stobhill's recent win in the 2010 RIBA Awards for Architecture and, in the same week, the hospital secured the title of 'Best Designed Project' in the 2010 Public Private Finance Awards.
