Excellence in office space
Reiach and Hall's Evolution House, Westport, Edinburgh, for Edinburgh College of Art has recently received a BCO ‘Best Fit-Out of Workplace’ Regional Award 2009.
This award endorses one of the BCO's primary objectives which is to define excellence in office space. The Awards provide public recognition for top quality design and functionality and a benchmark for excellence in workplaces. They acknowledge innovation and focus external attention on examples of best practice.
Reiach and Hall's Evolution House for Edinburgh College of Art was recognised as having created an "effective educational and office space so well designed that one is left with the impression that the building was built specifically for the college’s purpose. This fit-out provides excellent crisp space that utilises the existing features of the building maximising the benefits of the views and light. Even when subdivision is necessary, full height glazed partitions allow light to penetrate floor plates. The principal’s office and boardroom on the top floor provides the flourish, with stunning executive offices and a boardroom that makes the most of the views..."
